BCGR STAFF MEMBER CHATHURI PERERA PASSES AWAY

BCGR Staff member Chathuri Kaushalya Perera passed away on 29th September 2011 succumbing to her illness despite the diligent medical attention and care provided to her by a dedicated team of doctors and nurses. Her unexpected premature death at the age of 23 has been a profound shock to all of us at the Bureau.

As the first female staff member to join the Bureau since its inception in 2008, Chaturika has made an immense contribution to this office during the last 3 years, performing her duties with commitment and dedication. Her passing has left a void that will be impossible to fill. Her enduring legacy of sincerity, simplicity and passionate motivation will ever be etched in our memory. We sincerely share the deep sorrow and pain felt by her family members and friends due to her untimely passing.

BCGR and its staff undertook efforts to extend support and consolation to her and her family members during the difficult days of her hospitalization and terminal illness. The Bureau organized a Bodhi Puja on 16th September 2011 to invoke blessings of the Triple Gem at the Mayurapada Piriwena, Pelawatta, Battaramulla.

Final rites were performed on October 1, 2011 at the Kotikawatta Cemetry in the presence of her family members, friends and well wishers. Secretary of the Ministry of Rehabilitation & Prison Reform, CGR & BCGR staff members attended the funeral.

We once again extend our deepest sympathies to the family members and wish them all strength to bear this irreparable loss.
