Ex-Combatants win Prizes at the all Island Art Competition

Beneficiaries of Rehabilitation programs have swept 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes at the Art competition conducted by Ministry of Social Services. The Prizes were awarded at the ceremony held on 15th October 2011 at “Nagarodaya Hall”, Borella to mark the National Counseling Service day .

Minister of Social Services Hon. Felix Perera, Secretary to the Ministry, Mr. R.M.S Ratnayake and Commissioner General of Rehabilitation were present at the ceremony. Prizes, relevant prize money and names of winners are given below;

* 1st Prize Annarasa Pratheepan Rs. 15,000

* 2nd Prize Shritharan Shrilaxman Rs. 10,000

* 3rd Prize Yogeshwaran Mayooran Rs. 7,500

Secretary to the Ministry of Social Services, Mr. R.M.S Ratnayake and Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, Major General Chandhana Rajaguru. handed over the prizes to the winners at the ceremony.

Under the rehabilitation program, the Bureau of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation (BCGR) has identified beneficiaries possessing creative artistic talents whose potential could be developed further.

Such beneficiaries are supported by training and equipment provided by the Ministry of Social Services under its counseling program mainly at the Vavuniya Protective Accommodation and Rehabilitation Centers.

The beneficiaries are indeed delighted at the opportunity they have had to participate in the all Island Art Competition and amply demonstrate their talents by their remarkable achievement in winning the first three prizes.
