367 Beneficiaries who have undergone a Rehabilitation program was Reintegrated into society on 25th October 2011

Another batch of 367 beneficiaries who have undergone a two-year rehabilitation program was reintegrated into society on 25 th Oct 2011 at the Wellawatte Ramakrishna Hall. Prime Minister of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Hon. D. M. Jayaratne graced the Occasion as the chief guest and other disguised guests attended the ceremony, further, the Rehabilitation and Prison reforms Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera, Ministry of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister Hon. Douglas Devananda, Governor of North Province Hon.Major General GA Chandrasiri, Governor of Western Province Hon.Al-Haj.S.Alavi Mowlana, Commissioner General of Prisons Prison Reforms Secretary Mr. A.Disanayaka, All Ceylon Hindu Congress President V. Kailasapillai, and other staff bearers and Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Major General Chandana Rajaguru.

Commissioner General Rehabilitation Major General Chandana Rajaguru, welcomed the participants to the ceremony and thanked all of them for their contribution to successful rehabilitation program.

The Commissioner General of Rehabilitation while addressing the gathering stated that BCGR has committed to implement the vision of His Excellency the President and effectively serve the misguided ex-combatants who voluntarily surrendered or identified as such, to become useful citizens of society thus building the foundation for a lasting peace.

And he further expressed as much as Sri Lanka created a world record in defeating terrorism militarily they were confident in going forward to lead “the task of winning the hearts and minds”, particularly of the victims of the 30 year long conflict, which would undoubtedly be a significant milestone in the path of achieving a permanent solution to the problem, whilst ensuring final reconciliation and long-lasting peace.

Reintegration ceremony has been conducted with Deepavali pooja and Hindu cultural activities. Hon. Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne, Hon. Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera, Minister Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms, Secretary of the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Mr. A. Dissanayake and a beneficiary also spoke at the occasion.
