Sewing machines provided to trainees on completion of leather craft courses

Sarvodaya Movement, a renowned NGO sponsored a 3-month course in Leather Craft for the benefit of trainees at the Thelippalai Rehabilitation Centre. On November 18, 2011, Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, Major General Chandana Rajaguru was present during the distribution of sewing machines to 31 beneficiaries who had followed the Leather Craft Course prior to their re-integration into society at the Thelippalai Rehabilitation Centre. The distribution of Sewing machines took place at the Thelippalai Regional Secretariat.

The gift of the Sewing Machines was also sponsored by Sarvodaya with the aim of assisting the trainees to find self-employment and serve the communities, into which they have been re-integrated, with skills in a vital service industry sector.

Secretary of the Thelippilai Regional Secretariat, Assistant Secretary (Development) of the Thelippilai Regional Secretariat the Sarvodaya Coordination Officer for Jaffna and the Officer-in-Charge of the Thelippalai Rehabilitation Centre along with other officials were present at the handing over ceremony of the sewing machines.
