Dilmah donates Equipment /Tools to Vocational Trainees

The leading tea firm, Dilmah has donated equipment and tools to 14 Ex-combatants who are due to complete shortly their rehabilitation program at the Senapura Centre. This valuable donation is expected to greatly facilitate the ensuing process of their re-integration into society. The 14 recipients are presently following Vocational training courses as part of the 2-year Rehabilitation Program conducted by the BCGR.

Among the items donated were Spraying Machines, Electric Water Pump, Carpentry tool sets, Handicraft Tool sets and Creative art painting tools.

The gift equipment and tools would undoubtedly enable the recipients to be self-reliant and earn their living by utilizing the respective vocational skills they have acquired during the training course.

The gift items were handed over at a function at the Senapura Centre on November 19, 2011.

Among the distinguished guests present on this occasion were Mr Merril J. Fernando, Chairman of the MJF Group, holding company of Dilmah and the Eastern Region Security Forces Commander Major General Lal Perera .

The other distinguished guests who also attended the function were Deputy Chairman of Dilmah, Mr. Himendra Ranaweera, Director of Dilmah Mr. Dilshan Fermando, 23rd Division Commander, Brigadier L.M. Mudalige, Brigadier K. Rupasinghe (Brigadier A&Q- East), 233rd Brigade Commander, Colonel H.G.N.P. Dayapathirana.

Rehabilitation Coordination Officer (East) Major L.S.V. Bandusena representing the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Major General Chandana Rajaguru, received the guests at the function extending to them a warm welcome and thanks.
