Rehabilitees Celebrates Deepawali

Deepawali the festival of light, important cultural event for all Hindus who celebrate this day very devotionally. Rehabilitees also celebrated deepawali festival very delightfully on last Friday (05.11.2010) at Vavuniya, Welikanda, Thrikoonamadu and Jaffna PARCs. These rehabilitees presently following the Rehabilitation Programmes under the Bureau of the commissioner general of rehabilitation (BCGR).

BCGR have organized many religious and cultural events to make this day significant for the rehabilitees. As a result rehabilitation centre Vavuniya arranged Kovil Pooja for all devotees, meanwhile they were engaged in Cricket and Volley ball matches. In the evening dramas and cultural events were performed by rehabilitees and the music support by Army rhythmic band.

Simultaneously Thrikoonamadu PARC has Organized Kovil pooja and in the evening musical show by Air force rhythmic band.

In addition to that all the rehabilitees were gifted with traditional clothes as wetties and sarees and also sweet meals for Deepawali, worth over Rs. 1.5 million.

In the eve of Deepawali, Brig. Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commissioner General of Rehabilitation presented a very Special Deepawali gift, One hundred and Twenty eight Rehabilitees were reintegrated in this remarkable day.

One hundred and one males and Twenty seven Females were among those Reintegrated with their families to start a new life.
