New Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Assumed Duties on 23.02.2012

Brigadier Dharshana Hettiarrachchi, RSP USP psc assumed duties as Commissioner General of Rehabilitation on 23rd February 2012 succeeding Major General Chandana Rajaguru who has been reverted to his substantive post as Director General Infantry, Army Headquarters. Prior to his appointment as CGR, Brigadier Dharshana Hettiarrachchi RSP USP psc, served as Divisional Commander of the 22nd Division, Trincomalee.

At the ceremony organized on the occasion of his assumption of office, venerable members of the clergy from all religious denominations bestowed their blessings on him. They expressed the hope that he would be able to fulfill his duties with due diligence and continue the good work of his predecessor and further develop the rehabilitation activities being conducted by the BCGR.

Having had his education at Ananda College, Colombo, Brigadier Hettiarrachchi joined the Sri Lanka Army in 1984 , and has a long and distinguished career record in the Army. His wide knowledge and wealth of experience would undoubtedly be of immense help in guiding the BCGR in pursuit of its goal of reintegrating all trainees as useful and fully productive members of the civil society.

Addressing the BCGR staff on this occasion, Brigadier Hettiarrachchi expressed his happiness at being called upon to serve in a non-military organization which would be a completely new experience for him. He added that he look forward to give of his best towards rehabilitation efforts and expressed his hope that he would receive all support and cooperation necessary to create a pleasant and harmonious work environment.
