Thal Arabhen Pol Arabhata – Educational Tour for Rehabilitation Beneficiaries – Day one

On a proposal of Hon Minister Chandrasiri Gajadheera, an education tour was organized by the Bureau of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation for 662 Rehabilitation beneficiaries to visit interesting places in the South from 11th to 13th May 2012.

The tour commenced from the Senapura and Poonthottam Rehabilitation Centres in Welikanda and Vavuniya respectively. The beneficiaries set off in Sixteen passenger buses for Galle face green in Colombo. After visiting Galle face green all the beneficiaries were provided with an opportunity to visit the Planetarium where they received a comprehensive briefing on astronomy.

Thereafter, they received a rarely found opportunity of visiting the Hon Speakers official residence. Hon Speaker Chamal Rajapakse warmly welcomed them at his residence where they were offered refreshment. Later he had a friendly conversation with the beneficiaries and discussed future plans of the Government for them. The “Friends of Peace” musical band comprising Rehabilitation beneficiaries performed Vesak Bhakthi gee at the occassion.

Hon Minister Chandrasiri Gajadheera, Minister of Rehabilitation and Prison reforms, Mr.A.Dissanayake, Secretary to the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms, Brigadier Dharshana Hettiarrachchi Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, Colonel Dharshana Liyanage Deputy Commissioner General of Rehabilitation,Colonel Pradeep Perera Col GS of BCGR, were also present at this event. All the Rehabilitation beneficiaries enjoyed a special dinner arranged at the Bodhirajaramaya at Panagoda at the end of the day one.
