Second Day of the Thal Arabhen Pol Arabhata

The second day of the tour (12th May), the Rehabilitation Beneficiaries started the journey from Panagoda for a sightseeing in the Southern region on the Southern Express Highway. After an hour or so they reached at the famous Seenigama Dewalaya. The Beneficiaries participated in religious observances at the Seenigama Dewalaya along with Brigadier Dharshana Hettiarrachchi the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation.

Following the religious activities the group had an opportunity to visit famous Light House Hotel in Galle where they enjoyed a special treat offered by the hotel staff. Thereafter the group resumed their journey to Galle. The first place to visit in Galle was the Shiva Kovila where they were given warm welcome by the inmates/ staff of Galle Prison. Later they participated in Hindu religious observances along with Mr. A Dissanayake Secretary to the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms. They were also offered with refreshments by the staff of the Galle Prison.

After visiting the Shiva Kovila, they visited ancient Galle Fort well-known for its historical value. The staff of the Foundation at Galle Heritage had organized a comprehensive briefing on the history of the Galle Fort, for the visiting group. Rehabilitation Beneficiaries enjoyed their lunch at the Fort together with Mr. Chandrasiri Gajadheera Hon. Minister of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms.

Later they resumed their journey to visit Katharagama, another important historical place of worship in the South. On their way to Katharagama, they also had an opportunity to witness a traditional Sinhalese Cultural show organized by the people in the area.
