BCGR Commemorate National Tree Planting Day

The BCGR under the patronage of Hon Minister for Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms organized a Tree planting Ceremony to Mark the National Tree Planting Day, which falls on November 15.

Under this programme, over 100 varieties of plants including Mango, Mahogany, Cashew, Jack, Palu etc. were planted in all Protective Accommodation and Rehabilitation Centers (PARCs) in Vavuniya and East at an auspicious time.

The objective was to protect the nature and environment and as a precautionary step to mitigate national disasters as much as possible and to contribute for country's economic growth going by the concept " Api Wawamu Rata Nagamu ".

This will preserve the rich environment and wild life of our motherland to a great extent for the benefit of generations to come.

Rehabilitees, Staff and the officers in charge of the centers took part in this ceremony. The BCGR also take this opportunity to express its sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Environment for providing all the plants required for this worthy cause.
