397 Rehabilitees Reintegrated With Their Families

397 Former LTTE combatants who have successfully completed government rehabilitation programme conducted by the Bureau of The Commissioner General of Rehabilitation (BCGR) were handed over their families after a lapse of many months on Thursday 30th September 2010.

Reintegrated rehabilitees were handed over to their families and relations by Hon minister of rehabilitation and prison reforms D.E.W. Gunasekara during a colorful function held at the Cultural Center in Vavuniya.

To ensure economical stability of their future life, The BCGR with assistance of ministry of rehabilitation and prison reform, several INGOs,NGOs and state – run vocational training agencies provided vocational training on different trades to those rehabilitees of the center it self before they were reintegration.

Two hundred and forty two males and One hundred and fifty five females were among those who reintegration with their families to start a new life.

Deputy minister Vijith Wijayamuni Zoysa, Secretary to the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Mr. A. Dissanayake, Commander SF-Vanni Maj. General Kamal Gunarathna ,Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Brigadier Sudantha Ranasinghe and District Secretary of Vavuniya Mrs P.S.M. Charles , Several government officials and hundreds of relatives of beneficiaries were also present at the event.
