Rehabilitants Art Exhibition will be held at National Art Gallery.

An exhibition of paintings by former LTTE combatants undergoing rehabilitation would be held on April 25 and 26 at the National Art Gallery in Colombo.

"Around 400 paintings by ex-combatants will be displayed at the exhibition and the public will be able to purchase them as well," Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, Brigadier Sudantha Ranasinghe said.

He said that the paintings were selected from a competition among former LTTE cadres in rehabilitation centres under various themes like peace, harmony and their experience at the rehabilitation centre.

Earlier in February handicraft of former LTTE cadres were displayed at the ‘Deyata Kirula’ Exhibition held in Buttala, Monaragala.

Currently around 4,000 former LTTE cadres are in Protective Accommodation and Rehabilitation centres (PARCs) under the Ministry of Rehabilitations and Prison Reforms.

The ex-combatants are given various vocational training and other life skills. Earlier there were 24 centres to rehabilitate former LTTE cadres and now it had been reduced to nine centres in Batticaloa, Jaffna and Vavuniya.
