Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Promoted to the Rank of Major General

Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Brigadier Sudantha Ranasinghe RWP,RSP,Psc was promoted to the rank of Major General on 11th May 2011.

Maj Gen Ranasinghe belonging to the Engineer Regiment has served twenty five years in the battle field out of his military service of 30 years having taken part in almost all major offensive operations conducted by the Sri Lanka Army against the LTTE.

He joined the Sri Lanka Army as an officer cadet on 31st August 1981 and was Commissioned to the Engineer Regiment in the rank of 2/Lieutenant on 04th December 1982. During his illustrious military carrier , He has held many key appointment both in Command and Staff in the Sri Lanka Army such as Platoon, Company, Battalion Commander and Brigade Commander in Infantry role as well as in his arm of Sri Lanka Corps of Engineers, Commander Bomb Disposal, Colonel General Staff of Army HQ and SF HQ Jaffna, Director Operations of Joint Operations HQ, Brigadier General Staff of SF HQ Wanni throughout the Humanitarian Operation , Commanding Officer of the Military academy etc.

He was awarded with Rana Wickkrama Padakkama (RWP) and Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) for his acts of bravery in the face of the enemy. He is wounded in action and is a recipient of the highly respected Desha Puthra Medal. He is holding a Masters degree on Military Strategies and qualified in psc.

Maj Gen Sudantha Ranasinghe RWP RSP psc was appointed as the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation on 31st January 2010 and to date he is performing his duties as Commissioner General of Rehabilitation in very successful manner.

He is married to Ms Iromi and has one daughter, Lakshi (11).
