Over 500 Rehabilitees United with their Families.

552 rehabilitees those who successfully completed the rehabilitation program were reintegrated to the society on today at Hindu Cultural Center in Vavuniya.

Minister of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Hon. Chandrasiri Gajadeera graced the occasion as a chief guest. Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Maj. Gen. Sudantha Ranasinghe warmly welcomed Chief Guest and all other Invitees. Maj. Gen. Ranasinghe delivered welcome speech and he said that in keeping with President Mahinda Rajapaksa's directions the youths had been provided with spiritual, livelihood, mental and physical training before they were re-integrated into society as useful citizens. No stone was left unturned to bring out their creative talents for the benefit of the country and mankind.

Minister Gajadeera was speaking at a function where 552 former ex-combatants were handed back to their family members after a successful rehabilitation process. We are providing all the youth with skills, livelihood training so that they may commence a vocation of their choice once re-integrated into society. We have negotiated with the State banks to give each youth a sum of Rupees 100,000 to 150,000. In fact, last week we met with some youth from the Elephant Pass area who had been reintegrated recently and helped them to obtain boats and fishing equipment so that they could commence their livelihoods.

Everybody enjoyed the elegant dances performed by Children's of Tamil Central College in Vavuniya.

End of the reintegration Ceremony peoples having with happiness tears falling from their eyes with a smile in their face made everyone feel the importance of reintegration with proper rehabilitation which assure social-economic reintegration.
